monicarose
Most PA programs that I've researched-- and all that I'm interested in applying to-- accept community college courses as prerequisites. For those that require Biochemistry, would an introductory Biochemistry course be acceptable? (Not a combined introductory organic/biochemistry course, but a course titled "Introductory Biochemistry" that requires O-Chem as a prereq.) It would be much easier to take the Biochem course at a community college versus spending 3x as much at a local 4 year public university but I am concerned as to whether it would be accepted. cinntsp
Call the schools and ask. It may vary between each one.

mackjacks
I was able to get away with an easy "Biochem 100" community college class that actually was kind of intro to Orgo/Biochem all in one. I think only 1 school out of 10+ I was interested in applying to wouldn't accept it. Definitely worth asking around to the schools you're interested in. Andreasmo
Monicarose, Check out this website.. I know all states don't use it, but it is really helpful for the ones that do. http://www.transfer.org/uselect/login.htm. It's still a good idea to check with the schools you are interested in, but at least you will have an idea.
MedicinePower
I am taking a biochem class at a community college that the prof teaches as a graduate level (500 level) course at the local university. Oddly it even has a "500" number assigned to the course, so it almost seems like the community college is teaching a graduate level course. I can't speak for the various PA programs but a combined orgo/biochem course usually barely skims the surface of biochem. However an "intro to biochem" course probably would go a lot deeper and might fulfill the requirement.
just_me
We could all say yes or no but the safest thing is to email the program with the course description and title and ask THEM if they will take it. The best thing about that is you will have email proof of the answer
