treblejig
A friend of the family is an attorney. She said that a PA client of hers is switching from family practice to orthopedics and need to get re-certified before she can start her new job. What does she mean by that? merseur
She may need to take the re-certification exam, which is required every six years. She doesn't need to be certified in orthopedics to work in orthopedics.
mackjacks
And is now required every 10 years (in the process of switching over) so after she takes this re-cert (PANRE) she'll be good for 10 years.
treblejig
Thank you, that makes sense. I didn't want to argue with an attorney.

I don't think this starts until 2014...so if she takes the PANRE this year she will still have to take it again in 6 years...then it will be 10 after that. treejay
That's true, it doesn't start until January 1, 2014. Anyone taking their PANRE/PANCE before that will be on the 6 year cycle.
mackjacks
Oh that is good to know/a bummer for my friend who just re-certed this week. Maybe I misinterpreted her, but I think she thinks she's good for 10 years now-unpleasnt surprise awaiting.
kittryn
why wouldn't you want to argue with an attorney? I'd love to argue with an attorney!
