a656939
I am looking to shadow a PA to increase my patient contact hours. I am almost done with my pre-requisite courses but I am lacking patient contact hours. Does anyone know of anyone in the Baltimore Washington area that would be able/willing to have shadow? I have been spending a lot of time with different surgeons in different specialties but would like to get more of the PA experience as well. marilynpac
call the state PA assoc and ask for a list of PAs who shadow in your area. They should have it, you can then email the PA and ask what their specialty is and ask about shadowing. Be sure to get LORs and use that shadow experience in your PS. If they state assoc doesn't have a list, start calling hospitals that hire PAs and ask if they know any PAs who shadow. If you already work in a hospital walk down to the ED, you may find PAs there who are willing. Good luck!
physio
better yet, check an insurance company's list of PA's in your area. I did that. Then just send them a letter and attach your CV/transcripts and ask if they would be receptive of letting you shadow them. I got responses from 4 of 7 PAs that I wrote to.
