Dermatology Medical Assistant Opportunity in Pittsburgh, PA. Perfect for gap year patient care experience!

Recommended Posts

Our current pre-PA medical assistant has been accepted into PA school, so we are searching for another motivated and enthusiastic pre-PA candidate!

Get the patient care experience you need for PA school!  Our dermatology office is seeking a recent college graduate to join our team as a medical assistant.  No prior experience is required, and this job will provide all of the direct patient care experience you will need to apply to PA masters programs.

Our medical assistants work hand-in-hand with the doctor and physician assistants to keep the office running smoothly.  Our practice focuses on skin cancer treatment, so you will have a lot of opportunities to be first assistant for office based surgeries, including Mohs surgery and facial reconstruction!  Responsibilities include:

  • Rooming patients and taking clinical histories.
  • Acting as a scribe
  • Assisting in surgical procedures such as Mohs micrographic surgery
  • Maintaining various biopsy logs and medical inventories

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in health sciences, biology, or other related fields
  • Enthusiastic, can-do attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort with iPads and computers (we are a paperless office)
  • An absolute commitment to providing excellent patient care and a desire to make patients happy!

This position is full-time, and a one year commitment is expected.  Typical work week is 4 days per week, 8 hour days.  Day shift, Mon-Fri, no weekends.  Pay $18-20 per hour, with paid vacation

We hope you consider advancing your career with Commonwealth Dermatology!
