Hi all! I noticed that there wasn’t a new thread open for the current admission cycle and thought I’d change that. I am an Idaho resident currently living in Boise since 2022 and I am hoping to attend ISU next year! I have submitted my CASPA and graduate school application as of 5/9. Would love to connect with anyone else who is applying this cycle, and good luck to you all!

Hey! Just wondering if anyone has heard if/when the threshold for the file score is going to be lowered? Thanks!

No, but I also received that email. What was your file score? Mine was 4.688, so I doubt I will get in.

I feel this lol. I applied in august though, but I still expected a file score by now. I’d definitely be annoyed if I had applied in June like you did

It's not too big of a deal overall since I'm starting school next year and don't think I'd choose ISU at this point, but I still want to know either way lol

ISU is one of my top choices! But congrats on getting in elsewhere. That’s very exciting either way. Hopefully we hear something soon

Ahh yes, hopefully you hear something soon! Rooting for you!! & Thank you!

Received my file score today. It is lower than the threshold.

what is the likelihood of them decreasing the threshold and when does that typically occur? Or has it been lowered already?

I still don’t have one, super interesting, I also emailed a month ago to check in & never got a response either 🥴

That sucks it’s below the threshold 😕 I’m sorry! They have the worst method in my opinion & it doesn’t mean you’re not a great applicant! I think they just lower it when they need more interviews to fill their cohort but I’m not sure of the exact process. I’ve never applied before this year!

I got invited for an interview almost 2 weeks ago!

6/8 applied (GRE score already sent in).

9/17 interview invite - scheduled by phone within a week - interview scheduled on 10/3

File score: 5.045

Very nervous. 🙂

I also got the same notification, but still waiting on a call. How many other applicants interviewed with you?

ISU PA grad here... You're not alone in questioning the file score methodology. However, after having gone through my own application cycle, I concluded that all schools most certainly have something like a file score. The unique thing about ISU is they're the only program I saw that is open and honest about how it's calculated. I was frustrated with parts of it, but I also suppose I would have been frustrated with other schools' methods of ranking me had they actually been transparent about it like ISU. So, I totally get the frustration, but I also appreciate ISU for being willing to make their admissions process more transparent.

From what I've seen, I think it's unlikely that all seats fill without the file score dropping at some point, probably by January. And then possibly lowering into Feb/Mar.

FWIW, I was very happy with my education and clinical experiences through ISU. Sure I got frustrated with some exams or a lecture from time to time, you'll hear that about literally every program out there, but overall I enjoyed my days in the classroom and I felt well-prepared for clinicals and the PANCE. Both my didactic and clinical advisers were absolutely wonderful, and the staff as a whole were super approachable with an open-door policy. I also greatly appreciated the international clinical rotations and volunteer opportunities they offer (one of the best experiences in PA school). No regrets at all. I know and respect that every student will have a unique experience, and for me it was a great one.

Best of luck to you all!!

Thank you for reaching out and giving info!!

Ultimately, I withdrew my application today because despite following all instructions, submitting everything on time, and confirming my application was complete in June, I received no communication or updates for months. After my follow-up in September went unanswered, I lost confidence in their process and decided to pursue programs that were more responsive and professional. Luckily, I have multiple acceptances and am in a position to be picky about where I go to school. I know others may not have that same flexibility. I wish everyone the best of luck and again, this was just my personal experience.
