Aishwarya Posted April 30, 2024 Hello, I am an international student from India, currently on F1 OPT post Masters in RT program, I’m looking to apply for PA program but have questions about job opportunities and visa sponsorship are there many hospitals who would accept and sponsor us ? Also is PA program STEM ? And since I have done my masters OPT already, after PA Program would I get another OPT ? thank you Quote
UGoLong Posted May 1, 2024 PA is considered STEM (science, technology, engineering, medicine). Not sure what "OPT" means in your post. If you already have a masters degree, you would get another in a US PA program. As far as VISA sponsorships, etc, I have no idea. Quote
kovi22 Posted March 21 Hi, international student graduating and applying for OPT this year. The PA profession does not count as part of STEM, which I know doesn't make sense but my program's interantional affairs office told me they tried nominating it for the STEM field with no success. As of now OPT is avaiable but only for one year and with no eligibility for extension. Hope this helps! and I hope in the future it could count towars STEM I could be wrong but it seems MD students also don't have this option either, I believe after gratuationt they get offered an H1B1 or EB visa cateory, there is something about practicing medicine as opposed to being involved in medicine that doesn't make this professions an eligible field. Here is a list of the fileds that are considered STEM per USCIS: https://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/stemList2024.pdf I hope this helps! Best of luck Quote
