I'm not in the job market, however, I get the daily deluge of e-mails from recruiters. One of them came in yesterday for an urgent care position here in Washington state that offered a 50 K sign on bonus. From what I'm hearing from you folks is that  many places has a gult of PAs/NPs and salares and incentives are not as competitive as they were in pre-COVID days. So, is this 50 K sign on an outlier? Again, not in the market but just was wondering about my old profession.

Where in Washington? Somewhere pretty far outside the mainstream, I'd guess.... Forks, Walla Walla, or something 2+ hours from Spokane.

Outlier. The most I've heard of for PAs is 20. I've seen 50 advertised for surgeons pretty regularly. Perhaps it was a mistake, incredibly hard-to-recruit position, and/or terrible wage (big sign-on to compensate).

You know who has regular 50k sign ons? CAA and CRNAs. Idk why we keep opening PA schools at no-name for-profit institutions when established programs have trouble securing good rotations. I believe we went from 200 programs just 5 years ago to now 300 programs

I've seen board certified EM docs get 50k sign on. Have heard PA's get as high as 20k but 5-10k standard. I typically forego sign on bonuses and just use them as leverage for a higher salary as often times they come with time commitments, which isn't an issue for me but I'm not a fan of being restricted based on a sign on bonus

An experienced productive PA  is one of the most underpaid professions out there.   Lots of friends in other fields with bachelors and masters degree are far out earning me and working less hours.   Combine this with us doing identical job in primary care for <50% of doc pay.    Frustrating.
