jmj11 Posted October 6, 2023 I'm not in the job market, however, I get the daily deluge of e-mails from recruiters. One of them came in yesterday for an urgent care position here in Washington state that offered a 50 K sign on bonus. From what I'm hearing from you folks is that many places has a gult of PAs/NPs and salares and incentives are not as competitive as they were in pre-COVID days. So, is this 50 K sign on an outlier? Again, not in the market but just was wondering about my old profession. 1 Quote

Forks, Walla Walla, or something 2+ hours from Spokane. 1 Quote
ohiovolffemtp Posted October 6, 2023 I've not seen this for EM. Relocation assistance yes, and in VERY rare cases signon bonus for FT, but at most $5-10K. 1 Quote
SedRate Posted October 6, 2023 Outlier. The most I've heard of for PAs is 20. I've seen 50 advertised for surgeons pretty regularly. Perhaps it was a mistake, incredibly hard-to-recruit position, and/or terrible wage (big sign-on to compensate). 1 1 Quote
iconic Posted October 6, 2023 (edited) You know who has regular 50k sign ons? CAA and CRNAs. Idk why we keep opening PA schools at no-name for-profit institutions when established programs have trouble securing good rotations. I believe we went from 200 programs just 5 years ago to now 300 programs Edited October 6, 2023 by iconic 3 1 Quote

jmj11 Posted October 7, 2023 Author Good point. I just notice they were zero-nemic in their number. Quote

thinkertdm Posted October 7, 2023 Maybe it’s fifty bucks. The recruiter will give you a hug, yank out his bank roll, and shuffle out a fifty. Or, give you a hundred and ask for change. 1 Quote
kettle Posted October 8, 2023 I've seen board certified EM docs get 50k sign on. Have heard PA's get as high as 20k but 5-10k standard. I typically forego sign on bonuses and just use them as leverage for a higher salary as often times they come with time commitments, which isn't an issue for me but I'm not a fan of being restricted based on a sign on bonus 1 Quote
Moderator EMEDPA Posted October 8, 2023 Moderator Team Health has 50k sign on bonuses right now for EM docs at rural facilities. There is also a facility near me with 50K sign on bonuses for CRNAs. 1 Quote
CornellSPA Posted October 10, 2023 Ouch big typo! Definitely $5,000 sign on. In the meantime, I did speak w my UPS driver over the weekend, he is on course to make $170k a great w expanded benefits package! https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-08-08/ups-jobs-searches-jump-50-after-30-billion-teamsters-win?srnd=premium#xj4y7vzkg Quote
Moderator ventana Posted October 10, 2023 Moderator An experienced productive PA is one of the most underpaid professions out there. Lots of friends in other fields with bachelors and masters degree are far out earning me and working less hours. Combine this with us doing identical job in primary care for <50% of doc pay. Frustrating. 1 Quote
