Graduating in Summer with a Bachelors in Health Service Administration but Want to Pursue PA school

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am graduating next summer in Health administration and I am looking to see if it is feasible for me to pursue PA school. I started out as a biology major so I have a lot of core prerequisites in science such as biology, chemistry, genetics, and anatomy and physiology. I also hold a certificate in phlebotomy and am actively working in a clinical setting with patients performing venipuncture. Would this be an option for me if I wanted to pursue a PA program even though my bachelors will be in health administration? My GPA isn't too high though so I was also wondering how that would affect admittance? Thank you for your input!

Hi! You can absolutely apply to PA school with a B.S. in Health Administration. I did it and got accepted this cycle. My initial major was medical technology, so that’s where my science courses came from! If your GPA is below a 3.2, and you have a C in any major prerequisite course I would encourage you to try boosting your GPA. Otherwise, do not be afraid to apply!

Thank you for the advice! I will definitely go for the local program I have been looking into. It's good to know that my bachelors will still qualify me!
