fennga
I was just accepted to program that does not require O-Chem and Core Bio. Ironically, I was taking them for entrance into other schools. These classes are a lot of work as many of you know and its tough getting off work. I was wondering how much this info will help me in PA school. I could drop them and recieve a "W", but not sure if I would be missing something. Your thoughts would be appreciated. briepm
I would say definitely drop OChem and use that time to study something that will actually help you in school, like anatomy, pharm or pathophys. O chem will NOT help you in PA school. What do you mean by Core Bio? Never heard of that one : )
FriarMedic
I didn't take o-chem and I don't feel like I'm missing anything. If by core Bio you mean general bio, then i'd double check w/ the school on that one... as many schools require general bio credits to get in. mackjacks
Just make sure the school you got into is okay with you dropping the class(es)...sometimes admissions are contingent on you finishing what you're enrolled in, but this is usually from prereqs. (Assuming they know you enrolled from CASPA or you notifying them).
greenmood
Agree with mackjacks. You never know. I don't think they can rescind your acceptance if the classes are not listed as required coursework but your enrollment in them may have played a part in their decision to admit you, whether or not the classes were required. Congrats, by the way. :)
chrissy0022
What school is that???? Lord how much i would have loved not to have taken my 5 Week Accelerated organic chem class...
Hemegroup
I loved Orgo, myself. At the very worst, besides teaching me how to further and carefully analyze scientifically and chemically ... well, you can never have too much of that! But if it's a choice, go with the Bio. bcreid2
Definitely check with the school. Even though it may not be required, they might want you to finish it since you are registered for it. If you don't need it, then drop it (o-chem). Never used it yet in PA school. Definitely look into taking pathophysiology instead if you can....

And, it you were glad with that choice? I'm in a similar boat. Those courses aren't required for the program I was accepted in.
