Best Books or Resources for Scenarios for General Medicine/Principles of Medicine

Recommended Posts

Hey, fellow PA-S!

I'm a second semester PA-S in my first general medicine course. I know all schools call it something different but it's the wonderful class of trying to learn every disease without your head exploding. I know understanding pathophysiology is key so you can understand what labs will do and how treatment will look like.

I am looking for any casebooks or resources anyone knows of that gives you a patient scenario and asks for the most likely diagnosis based on history, presentation, s/sx, labs, etc. Books are preferred but I'll take any recommendations!

Currently in my heme/onc block.

Thank you!! 🙂

This might go into more detail and depth than you'll need in school but I do really love the book "Frameworks for internal medicine" by Andre Mansoor.  He breaks down complex topics really well into the core parts or frameworks as he calls them, and gives illustrative case examples along the way.  It is kind of hard to explain - take a look at the "look inside" / sneak preview on amazon and see if that is what you are looking for.  Here are a couple screenshots:
