So if the active applicant list isn’t a waitlist and students are still selected from there before the class is filled- is being placed on that still a good sign? Obviously the ideal would be to be selected right away.

Hey! I was accepted off of the active applicant list in Feb last year so continue to keep an eye out even if you don't hear back by the end of the year.

I was just placed on the active applicant list from the 11/2 and 11/7 interviews. Does anyone know if they're still interviewing and do people get rejected from the interviews? Or is the active applicant list basically their way of rejecting us after the interview

There have been people outright rejected without interview and also rejected after interview. Active applicant list is essentially their waitlist.

Has anybody reached out to Elise to inquire where they are on the active applicant list? I know last year she would let people know what 1/3rd they were at and the list was about 100 people.

I emailed her a couple of days ago and she said she couldn’t tell me yet as they were finalizing their last interview date! she said she’d be able to share approximate locations soon

So this is a longshot since it seems like most people declined the ELP offer 😅

Did anyone accept the ELP offer? If so, pm me! I wanted to try to get to know my classmates but it hasn't went smoothly so far 😂

I didn't, but I wish you luck!!

Let's talk about the Leadership offerings! On the WFSoM supplemental application it allowed participants to indicate their interest in the ELPs. If you indicated interest, and were offered it, why did you decline?

Anyone in here a non-traditional student? I'd love to chat you up on how you made your way to PA school (your PA pathway through career changes, post-bacc programs, and PhDs).

Hii! I did at first indicate interest for the ELP program, however I didn't go through with the ELP acceptance because of money issues, like I have help at the current moment and it was a push to ask for help for that masters and then the masters in PA. I was interested in the ELP business, but that means I'd have to move and then push back being a PA another year. Also the fact that it's not a MBA, like I'd have to go BACK to school to gain that part, so I wasn't too fond of that, if I'm going to spend all that money, I felt like I would've had that. I also had already been out of school since 2019 and this was my SECOND time applying to PA school. SO I went ahead with the straight PA acceptance.

I am also a non-traditional student in a way, I graduated in 2019 and basically took off way more than a year. I explored being a lab assistant/lab tech and decided that was not what I wanted because I wasn't directly handling the patients HOWEVER that experience gives me a better appreciation for lab and blood work especially when it comes to diagnosing. I did enter into a post-bar in medical physiology to give me more of an "up" because I definitely had a lower GPA in undergrad, HOWEVER I knew my GPA shouldn't and won't define how I would be as a provider, but I used this chance to work my booty off during the post-bacc! I didn't go for another masters just for the sake of money, I knew if I wanted to go all into being a PA, I didn't want to spends THOUSANDS of dollars on a masters. So I only did a post-bacc certificate and then I retook classes, and retook entry tests! I hope this helps!!! :)

I personally decided not to go for the ELP because they tell you you can still carry a full time job while in the program. I am working for $14 an hour at this point so I would rather do this degree once I've started working as a PA and am making way more money.

Thank you for sharing! Which MS in the ELP were you interested in, and would you still want to pursue it after graduating as a PA-C?

Thank you for sharing! Your story gives me hope, honestly. I'm tired of justifying "why" I've decided to enroll in a post-bacc. In your personal statement/CASPA essay did you address your past academic history?

I did not initially apply for the leadership program, but was offered a seat with scholarship. I spoke with PAs and connections I have in leadership within our local healthcare corporations. I heard a lot of positive feedback about the program. I heard that PAs who graduate from the ELP program are paid more on average and move into leadership positions faster.

It was a very hard decision for me since I wanted to start PA school immediately, but I decided it was worth the time/financial investment. Another factor was that I was offered direct admit into the Boone campus (1 hour away), whereas the Winston campus is 10 minutes from my house. ELP students are able to indicate their preferred campus after the first year, so that was a huge plus for me.

Overall, I think it comes down to your long-term goals. I can see where the program would be helpful for those that have a desire to move into leadership positions in the future. Feel free to PM me! 🙂

Thank you for sharing! Wow. How is it you were offered a seat (and with scholarship) when you hadn't indicated interest? Have you considered Fellowships after graduation? I can't imagine being presented with that opportunity out-of-the-blue; I sympathize as it would be a difficult decision to make. Perhaps short-sighted of me but, like others, I fear further delays to the ultimate goal of becoming a PA as well as financial insecurity.

I am definitely worried about the finances 😅 I am hoping that the higher compensation I have heard of truly is substantial enough to justify it! I do have dreams of working in leadership/education/research at some point so I hope it helps me reach those goals. I do know that once I start making a PA salary, I won't want to ever go back to school! I am glad to get it out of the way before becoming a PA.

I was interested in the ELP Business track! I would potentially pursue it after PA school, just earn an MBA online somewhere potentially!! I definitely think it would be beneficial to have a business background! 🙂

Katy, I briefly talked about it, but really went into my other WHY to wanting to become a PA for my personal statement. I WAS prepared to answer any questions regarding that though! ALSO feel free to message me, I'd send you my P.S and you can read it!! 🙂

I’m a nontraditional applicant and would be happy to chat if you’d like to DM me.

Got the call today after interviewing mid-September and being waitlisted in early October!!!!

I have some decisions to make as I was offered direct admission to Boone or the ELP Business route. I didn't actually apply for ELP admission, so has anyone spoken to them about working while completing the management degree? Any idea what the class schedule would be like and if it would allow for a part-time job?

Those on the waitlist--keep your heads up. It's moving! 🙂

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That’s exactly what happened to me! 🙂 I accepted the business ELP seat. We are able to specify PA campus preference after we finish the business/law part. They do not recommend working during the MSM. Classes are in person 9am-5pm daily. You have to request permission to work. Feel free to PM me. congrats again!!
