In progress Physiology at CC vs. 4 year Uni Physiology

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am a reapplicant to PA school and had a few questions/ was asking for some advice. I previously took human physiology at a University of California school back in 2017 where I got a B- in lecture and an A in lab. Understanding that this prerequisite is getting older, I decided to retake physiology this spring semester of 2022 at a community college, however the lab is online. I know some schools don't accept online labs for physiology so I know for those schools I will use my old physiology course. My GPA isn't the best, but I am above threshold for a lot of schools.

1) Should I wait until I have my final grade, I am expecting an A, and then submit? Last year I was very late to submit and this year have everything together so much sooner which is why I want to get my app in. But I am worried that submitting with an in progress physiology prerequisite will hurt me?

2) Will it be negative if I submit applications with an "in progress" course like physiology on my application selected for the prerequisite? I don't want to be put to the back of the line by addcoms if they see I haven't completed my physio class if I select the in progress course, but when in reality I do have a physiology course that works.

3) Can/should I select my old physiology class and the new "in progress" course when selecting prerequisite courses?

4) Most schools don't care about community college vs. 4 year university, correct? I know some schools are picky about online labs, which I have already researched.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you and good luck to everyone this cycle!
