Hello everyone,

Just looking for some resources or links regarding obtaining category 1 CMEs. Conferences or whatever you guys suggest.

Thanks.

Can you be a bit more specific? There's a ton of stuff out there.

I'm honestly not sure. Brand new to this. I have a decent CME expense stipend (5k per year) so I have a lot of wiggle room. Could probably attend some multiple day conferences. I'm a trauma/acs PA.

So the field you're looking in really narrows things down, such that I'm going to let our surgery and EM PAs answer your question. Getting 50 hours per year is not hard.  Spending $5k is even less hard. Optimizing both of them so they make you a better clinician, increase your employability, and help you achieve your professional goals... that's a more nuanced question.

(I do my CME in psych, medical ethics, wilderness medicine and a bit of EM thrown in. I should probably do more family and occupational CME to keep up with what pays my bills)

If you haven't done it, you should take ATLS.  Though, if you have EMS experience and understand that thought process, the ATLS class is mostly for the merit badge.  Ultrasound training is also very useful.  FCCS is helpful, but doesn't provide CME (cost decision on SCCM's part).

IIRC, you can still count it as cat 2 cme, hour-for-hour.  I have to do 25 each of cat 1 and cat 2 in a year.
