Cideous
Has anyone seen this happen or know someone that it happened to? In many states, one's house is not fully protected (except TX and FL). I was wondering if anyone has ever read of or known a provider who had a judgement so large they lost everything including their house. mgriffiths
I do not know of any case like what you are describing. The closest would be a physician I know that had a judgment against him and the patient was suing for something ridiculous (like $20 million or something). The doc lost but the actual amount the patient won was well within his malpractice limits.
Moderator ventana Posted April 28, 2022 Moderator Share Posted April 28, 2022 Never heard of it as long as you have Med mal insurance. attorneys tend to settle for policy limits and have to sign a release.
Mayamom
This is why I always have 2mil/4 mil policy. Not the 1mil/3mil. When I was in corrections we had 5 million per occurrence. But the above sounds right; most just ask for the policy limits.
sas5814
Lawyers being lawyers they will be looking for the quick kill. It is a never ending tedious process to continue to try to squeeze money out of someone after malpractice limits are exhausted.
