One of my instructors is extremely busy and gave me some pointers on what she thought of me but she is ok with having me use a writer to make sure it is a great letter. Any suggestions? If the instructor wants someone else to write the letter and then sign it, that's his (or her) prerogative but I don't think you should be in the loop. I'm a professor and actually writing letters -- while it takes time -- is one of the most rewarding things I get to do. I can actually pay it forward that way.
