SJ803
I have a conditional acceptance to a PA program and I have to finish 2 online courses prior to matriculation. I am having challenges in one of my courses. It is a self paced course but I keep getting flagged for possible cheating. I am required to submit a video of my surroundings in the room (360 degree video) and this is the third time my scan was not sufficient. The first 2 exams I got a warning about this from the professor about the videos, but this time I received a 0 on the exam. I don't want this to affect me getting into school and I am afraid if this happens again I may fail the class. Would you recommend I send the professor a sample video in my email asking if it is sufficient before taking the next test? UGoLong
Most PA programs want your final transcript before they formally let you into their program. If yours' shows academic dishonesty, I wouldn't be surprised to see them rescind your acceptance. What really surprises me here is that -- if I read your post correctly -- you apparently ignored two warnings that they thought you were cheating, didn't contact them or change anything, and now you're mobilized when they threw you out? If you really didn't cheat, you need to contact them immediately and work this out if you can, even if it means going to a proctored location to take or repeat any tests. Your integrity is key; you need both to take steps to maintain it and also to defend it when it is challenged. TeddyRucpin
Are you being referred for academic dishonesty? This is the type of thing that will get your acceptance clipped.
SJ803
Definitely did not cheat. Followed up with the school and the infraction will not be included in my transcript. From my conversation with the professor I will still have to take the 0 on the previous exam. I will be given full credit on first 2 exams. I can take responsibility and say there are things I could have differently. I just didn't think it would escalate like this. After the first exam I was given feedback that the video was not sufficient and I did make changes to how I scanned the room for the next exam. The professor said they would let it slide and I still received full credit. After the second exam I was given feedback the professor could not see the entire room (video) but only behind me but I was still given full credit for the exam. They just told me it seemed like I was trying to get a better video but this would be the last warning. For the third exam, I was given a 0 because I didn't get a good enough view of the table in the video. I have been able to talk with the professor and decided on a couple of solutions. I will purchase an external webcam for my laptop so it will be easier to scan the room at different angles. I will send the professor a video prior to taking the next few exams. I still have 4 tests left so I can absolutely pass but I've learned a tough lesson. I need to be more proactive from the beginning and clarify exactly what the professor is asking. Are there any other additional steps you would recommend I take with the school? Edited April 21, 2022 by SJ803
Sunnyn
Why are they being so picky? Do you have input on this? Sounds....very difficult this teacher/university....

I think I would set up the cameras before the next exam, capture the video, and have the school say whether or not they think it will be sufficient. ANESMCR
What’s stopping students from taking excellent videos of their room then proceeding to cheat on the exam anyway once the camera is off? What a bizarre method.
