Corgigirly1997
Hi guys! I just got extended my first offer a position for an ED outside of Chicago burbs for 65$/hour. Training is for 3 months (6 weeks with physician and then 6 with an APP). 4 weeks PTO, good HC plan, and up to 6% 401k matching. Should I negotiate a higher hourly rate? I was not sure if new grads were “established” enough to do that. Thanks so much!
CAAdmission
Depends on the corporate structure. Some places you can negotiate, and some places they say "this is our standard starting salary."
kettle
That's a good offer for a new grad w/o residency. Not every place offers PTO. 3 months of one on one training is good. No matter what you did prior to becoming a PA (Healthcare experience wise) you will be humbled. You probably could ask for a 5k-10k sign on bonus but those typically come with wording in the contract that you stay 1-3 yrs or your responsible to pay it back. 1
Randito
Sounds like a good offer to me. Any CME funds? Any opportunity for growth with experience? 1
cc56
Sounds like a fair offer for a new grad. Get your experience, show you are worth it..... Then ask for more money later. In the past in the Chicagoland area it was hard to get into ER without experience. So I think it is a fair offer to learn, you probably can make more after 1-3 years experience if you hop jobs.

If your offer includes CME, RVUs, etc. then you're in a good spot. If it doesn't, that's when you start a conversation. 1
Corgigirly1997
Thank you all! CME is at 1,500$. I went and toured yesterday and officially accepted. Everyone seemed really nice and genuine. It is a level 2 trauma center so I am absolutely elated to get my start here!!!! 1
