kak3521
Does anyone know if Northwestern offers any opportunities to work with underserved communities? I don't see it mentioned anywhere on the website, but wanted to ask in case it's just not out on display. Thanks!
crystaltide
It's in downtown Chicago, so I would think so.
amsenarighi
It's in Evanston, a very nice suburb of Chicago, but surrounded by low-access, high-need areas
crystaltide
My understanding is that the Feinberg School of Medicine, where the program is, is downtown, and clinical sites are throughout the Chicago area.
odie07
The undergrad campus is in Evanston. The medical campus is in downtown Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood. For those looking for associations with underserved, Rush U. has connections with Cook County Hospital...so may be a better place to find underserved. You'll do a lot more pt. education there b/c of the population, you'll also see a lot more interesting cases.
thisisme1110
It is in downtown Chicago, and YES you do have plenty of opportunities to work with underserved. It is up to your class to figure it out in the first year, but so far the classes have done so... and in the second year your rotations are, for the most part, NOT downtown...they can include many underserved areas if you wish.
