Juliac
Hello All, I live out of state but may be attending PA school in CA. Are there state-specific laws limiting PA's and their scope of practice? What are some challenges (in general) PA's face in CA? Thank you! Cheers, Julia
wahwahwei
PA student here in CA. So far, I have seen that we are being challenged the NP's and their unions. In other words, we are being pushed away by the nursing unions. They are politically advantaged. So it's our duty to advocate for our profession. Please join both AAPA and CAPA to advocate for our profession. Otherwise we will lose. I've seen some hospitals like UCDavis only hire NP's because of their strong unions. pavlovacloud
I'm a PA in bay area. I also notice that DPH and SFGH tend to only hire NPs. I asked a NP friend to ask her supervisor in DPH Primary Care if would hire PA's and the answer was a no. My NP friend also noted it could upset her union if a PA got the position. Welcome to our future. Make as much as you can and save it all. Then change fields.
kang1208
Really sounds like a trend that's coming to a state near you...If it happens in a state like California, it's likely going to happen everywhere soon..
