I submitted kind of late so I was not verified until June 17th and I received an email today (June 30th) that I am placed on hold for an interview. Congrats to everyone who received interviews 🙂

Verified on CASPA 6/18, reviewed 6/21, placed on interview hold 7/9. Still keeping my hopes high for an interview because it looks like last year most people who received an interview were placed on hold first!

Just got offered an interview for 8/20-21

For those interviewing, where are you planning on staying?

When I interviewed in July I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Iowa City! It was very nice and compared to the normal cost of a hotel, it was reasonable with the university corporate code they provided.

I did my undergrad/masters at Iowa and still live in Iowa City currently. There is a new hotel that is a 10-15 minute walk to the medical campus - Courtyard Marriott Iowa City University Heights. Not sure what the price is like, but definitely the best location!

Congrats! 😊 Are you going to bring any family with for day 1?

Probably not. My family/SO would love to come but I didn't get the feeling from the email that it would be acceptable to bring anyone else.  But would love to see what others are thinking!

To the people that have interviewed so far, any hints on the kinds of questions or scenarios you were asked?

And are people bringing anyone with them for the orientation/dinner day? Parents, SO, family?

The school actually had some policy updates regarding group gatherings due to COVID, so we weren't able to invite anyone to dinner. In fact, we weren't officially allowed to eat in a group at all and ended up having an informal picnic outside with some current students.

The interview will be an MMI. When you call to confirm your interview invitation, they will give you more information on what to expect on interview day. Best of luck to you!
