Moderator EMEDPA Posted March 24, 2021 Moderator Share Posted March 24, 2021 working in PA school at all is generally not advised unless doing a part time 3 year program. That being said, some people do if they have a job that allows studying at work (paramedic at a slow station, etc).

DizzyJ
I worked throughout PA school. I worked front desk at a hotel and I was able to study during my shift. yes, loans can cover rent. I took out my loans/living expenses per semester.
hmtpnw
Currently finishing up clinicals, attending a 24 month program. I worked once a week during didactic. I let my advisor know right off the bat and she was supportive. It was a low stress job and my coworkers were close friends so it served as a nice break from school. I only stopped due to COVID. ohiovolffemtp
I worked 1 24 shift at the FD per month while in PA school. At the time I had PA school, a significant other, and the opportunity to work. I had enough time to fit in 2 of 3. So, I only worked a tiny bit. As EMED said, I probably could have worked a 36 hour shift at the FD on Sat & Sunday day. I couldn't have risked working Sunday night and being late or to tired to learn on Mondays. If I had done this, I wouldn't have had anyone else in my life.
UGoLong
I worked a shift or two with EMS every month. I got permission to keep up my skills. I think the important thing is to remember why you're in school. No cutting corners and not studying or not getting enough sleep.
