Reality Check 2
Unfortunately, telemedicine is a pandemic flare for the most part and pops up like roofing companies after a hurricane. Everyone is doing it these days - existing practices and corporate medicine, work comp clinics and even urgent cares. Pop up companies and ads looking for "investors" are not likely to last or be of high quality. I just got an email for a high dollar 4 hour CME on "Maximizing Telemedicine". Telemedicine will be stronger after COVID and utilized more often - it isn't going away. I still have mixed feelings about what all it can do and how well. PAs can own practices in many states but the leash to an MD/DO is not going away. You have to pay a doc to be the "medical director" and review charts, etc. So, I wouldn't get too excited or invest your retirement funds. Do right by the patient, do a good job and be smart. 1

surgblumm
More than fifty years of serving patients in these United States. With so much history, it is more than a damn shame that we are the most unrecognized clinicians in healthcare today. Yes, we are the ASSISTANT and its killing us,
TexasPA28
Why would you want to do telemedicine? Telemedicine sucks All of your appointments consist of this: "I'm in severe pain for 20 years and need narcotics" or "I have a runny nose that started today and need antibiotics ASAP" I don't have time for that nonsense
thinkertdm
It's amazing, because most of my (forced) telemedicine appointments (and I'm sure Reality Check will agree) go like this: ...can you hear me?...no? ..how about..what?...no?... or please put your shirt on... or: tell me about the headache with the unilateral vision loss that was scheduled for a video visit

Reality Check 2
Patient: "I can see you but can't hear you --- can you hear me?" *waving arms at camera that is maladjusted and showing me his couch* "Wait.... gd it..... gd f'ing phone..... Wait, doc - I'm getting it" Me: *deep breath*, pause.....*deep breath* OR Me: "no sir, I can't see that mole behind your scrotum clearly on the phone" Some days it is really ok and we see each other - most days it is an exercise in futility, technology and patience - something I wasn't blessed with in abundance 1
