Importance of Academic Letter of Recomendation

Recommended Posts

I am looking to apply this upcoming cycle but have a bit of an issue regarding having an academic LOR. I got my prerequisite classes done over three years ago and regretfully was not thinking of getting recommendations at the time. I have been working as a medical assistant since then and have several PAs and Doctors who would be willing to give me solid LORs, but none of them come from an academic setting. I am worried my lack of an academic letter will ruin my chances even if I try to compensate with other recommendations.

I was in a similar situation as I finished my degree 3 years ago and my last prerequisites were online. For me personally, I just removed schools that required academic LORs from my application list.
