Slothtastic
I am looking to apply this upcoming cycle but have a bit of an issue regarding having an academic LOR. I got my prerequisite classes done over three years ago and regretfully was not thinking of getting recommendations at the time. I have been working as a medical assistant since then and have several PAs and Doctors who would be willing to give me solid LORs, but none of them come from an academic setting. I am worried my lack of an academic letter will ruin my chances even if I try to compensate with other recommendations.
mxray
I was in a similar situation as I finished my degree 3 years ago and my last prerequisites were online. For me personally, I just removed schools that required academic LORs from my application list. Edited January 13, 2021 by mxray
TheFatMan
It shouldn't matter if the school doesn't specifically require an academic LOR. If a school does require one, you might want to contact them directly to see if exceptions could be made.
KuchiKopi
I agree! I was accepted without an academic letter (Last class was spring of 2016) so that was a no go lol
Christine616
Unless the school specifies that you need a LOR from a professor you don't really need one. I was the same as @mxrayI excluded schools that required one.
