I'm just curious if anyone has run across this before:  I'm looking at a possible new position and the salary range is advertised as "commensurate with qualifications, experience and equity."  What does salary "commensurate with equity" mean?  Are certain ethnicities now paid more just because they belong to a non-majority group?

Paid more than they have traditionally been paid with the existing pay gap between white and people of color? I sure as hell hope so. Hope women are getting paid more too to get rid of the gender gap.

THAT is what salary commensurate with equity would be.

I agree with you MediMike.  I believe salaries should be color- and gender-blind, but I have always worked for employers where all the PAs were paid exactly the same per years of experience, so was unfamiliar with this phrasing.

That’s not what this means. Christ. Equity within the current employee group. We have this with all of our hires and it’s part of the salary description. You are not gonna be paid 150K if the most experienced person in the labor pool is currently making 105K, no matter what you think your experience and qualifications are worth or what they might be worth someplace else. They’re going to fit you into their group salary structure. So it’s equitable.
