Medical Mission Trip as a PA

Recommended Posts

Hello! I've been thinking about doing a medical mission trip after I graduate in August 2021. The plan would be to pass my pance exam, apply for jobs and then set off on medical mission trip. Providing medical care as a PA in a medically underserved country is something I'm very passionate about. Plus I figured this would be the time to do an extended volunteer trip- while I'm waiting to hear back from potential employers with job interviews, plus I probably won't get another opportunity to go on an extended length mission trip while in my career.

*This is considering pandemic restrictions will be calmed down*

What are some good organizations to volunteer through?

What are your thoughts on this idea?

I'd love any advice, input, or experiences. Thanks!

Savanna Perry did a cool segment on her pre-PA podcast where she interviewed a group that does a mission trip. They sounded like a neat group! https://www.thepaplatform.com/podcast/pa-medical-missions?rq=mission

There were a few more episodes with similar content, but I haven't listened. Usually they include contact information for the group at the end of the episode.
