Greetings future PAs,

My name is Elizabeth and this is my second year applying to MEDEX with my first interview. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. I'm unsure on how the Zoom interview will go and I want to reach out to anyone else that feels the same way. Id love to get to know a few of you prior to the Zoom interview to feel a bit more comfortable. I look forward to meeting you all on 11/14, and hopefully one day in the classroom.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Boudreau

Hello Judy,

Thanks for reaching out, so far I think there are three of us for the 11/14/20 Tacoma interview. Id love to meet with everyone prior to the interview. I am in the Portland, OR area. I've been a certified tele-pharmacy technician, infusion technician, phlebotomist and a direct caregiver. How about next week some time to meet for a zoom interview, this way we can give more people time to find our group?
Do you know how many people interviewed during the last interviews?

Hello All,

My name is Deionne and I am a first year applicant with an interview on the 14th! I spent some time as an EMT for a private ambulance company and am now working at Allenmore Hospital in the emergency department as a emergency services technician. I was told by someone on the student panel that there should be something posted on the forum regarding some interview prep, so keep an eye out 🙂 If interested we should do something over zoom beforehand as well in order to prepare!

Welcome Skusekd,

Congratulations on your interview with us on the 14th! I am trying to arrange a time next week that works for everyone to meet for a Zoom interview. Do you have any specific days or times that work best?

It seems as if everyone prefers afternoons; I created a Zoom meeting for Tuesday, Nov 3, 2020, 05:30 PM Pacific Time. I will privately message each of you the link. If anyone has an issue with this time, please let me know, and I will change it. I just picked a random day in the afternoon. Do you think there will be more than five of us interviewing that day?

Hello all,

I’m Stephanie I live in Seattle as well. I work as a surgical neurophysiologist across the puget sound.

Thank you Elizabeth for starting this thread, I also will be interviewing on 11/14. You are not the only one who is nervous about the virtual interview! This is my first time interviewing with medex, but 3rd time applying (third times a charm right 😉). I would love to meet everyone ahead of time! Would you mind including me in the link for the zoom on the 3rd?

Congrats to everyone for the invite, and best of luck!

Hi @Eboudreau I wasn’t sure if you sent a link? I’m not as familiar with PM on this platform. Let me know if you guys are still zooming tonight 🙂

Hello Shaun, Liora, Stephanie

I wanted everyone to email Elizabeth your emails so we can start either a thread or a good chat or something along those lines to keep in contact, to give feedback, ask questions or simply give positive vibes to one another. Lets stay positive, stay calm and get accepted 😃

Best

Judy

Hi I just found this in one of the threads, hopefully its helpful

We had 3 interviews total. Each time with 2 other interviewees and 2 interviewers from faculty/staff. We also had a student panel and a group activity. Overall I sensed that the school genuinely wants to get to know you as a person. I would say be yourself, the best and authentic version of you! I think that a current student posted the format on the main thread for this year if you want to check out their advice/take on it as well!

Judy

Hey everyone, there are still tickets available for those who are interested in the Loma Linda PA program. We have changed our event from zoom to being ON CAMPUS. There will be prizes raffled off. Due to some restrictions still being in place, the tickets that are being sold will only allow one person per ticket. More info on the flyer and event bright website. Thank you so much! Hope to see you there. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/llus-3rd-annual-pre-pa-conference-tickets-145958073527

      Hi all,

It is my first cycle applying and I am wondering if anyone has any guidance or suggestions towards interview preparation. I know that there are resources for mock interviews but they are usually $100+ just for one. Does anyone have any other ideas especially just to get started or how to become confident and ready on interview day? i am very personable and don't typically struggle during interview situations but with these I know I will be nervous and I don't want that to be the only impression left on the adcoms.

Or when is a good time to begin the preparation and everything we should know about the schools before interviews?

Any feedback on things that helped you or you plan to do is much appreciated!

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

      Hello everyone!
My name is Kou-Lai and I am actually an undergraduate student who has an interest in becoming a Physician Assistant. I am doing a project for one of my class and I have to interview a professional about their community. More specifically, we are focused on how different communities use different languages and writings to communicate to each other. I will be using your answers as part of my project (in the form of a presentation), but will remain anonymous.
Please help me and Answer as freely as you would like. I really appreciate it!

      1.      Do Physician Assistants communicate with other Physician Assistants, or people of other profession, often? How often do you communicate with other people during your day (even on your days off)?

      2.      In what ways are you communicating with other professionals? Writing? etc? Are there specific ways you address, speak, or write to other professionals?

      3.      What about non-professionals? If you meet students often, what differences do you see when speaking/writing to them compared to professionals?

      4.      When talking to patients/people outside the community, how do you do so? Do you use a different way of speaking to them?

      5.      What types of writing do PA professionals do on the job? Is everything (that is written) to be communicated? Or are they for any other purposes?

      6.      Are there special documents, forms, or papers that are unique to a professional in the PA field?  How do they relate to the PA community? What are some details that are usually included on the documents?

      7.      What is the most important type of document that a student should know/be able to produce? What special language or writing should a student use if they are interested in the PA career.

      8.      What is the best way a student can approach this community? How can they start learning how to speak or write in this profession?

      9.      Do you do research as part of the job? Do you do research outside the job? Is research part of the job?

      10.  Can you share samples of the documents you’ve told me about today?   If not do you know of links, or websites, or other resources that would provide me with samples?

      Hello everyone,
I am currently in the process of applying to cardiology jobs. I'm finishing up school in NC and applying out here as well, but ideally I'd like to end up back home in the Seattle/Tacoma area after graduating.
I do have a few leads, including an initial call with a recruiter for one of the larger hospital systems later this week, but I am wondering if there are any cardiology PAs here practicing in the Seattle/Tacoma area who would be willing to share any insight about salary, the different hospital systems, current job market, etc.
