NavyHCA
Are there any Navy MSC's here that transitioned from being a HCA to becoming a PA? If so, I am curious about your experience and the pros and cons.
donricardo
I'm a current USN MSC PA. I was not a prior HCA. I think the pro of being a PA in the MSC community is that after enough experience you could fills roles such as an OIC and Department Head and clinical roles. You can't do clinical work as an HCA. The downside is that if your both a PA and HCA that if you work in a administrative role you most likely still be required to see patients. I'm considering a getting my HCA master's. Do you know what billets are available to USN HCA's? Specifically in Europe, such as Rota, Naples, and Sigonella. This is where I'd like to be one day, but I believe the Navy only have 2-3 PA billets in Europe currently. Let me know if you have any other questions.
