electives rotation choice

ICU for sure. Most of critical care is just internal medicine, but happens to be at the extreme end. All of those skills are useful in most any field (and on the PANCE). Learning about pressors and vents reinforces a lot of physiology/pathophysiology. If you play your cards right, you can get tubes and lines, too. If you're around for more than 15 minutes or so, you'll also get to be part of some end-of-life discussions--an excellent way to practice relating to patients and families.
