When is your interview date? Thanks for sharing with us that you've been invited! Now we will all be on the lookout 🙂 good luck to you, it's an exciting moment!

Thank you so much! It feels silly to get so excited when I haven't even interviewed or gotten an acceptance yet, but everyone here understands how important it is to just get an invite! Finally someone recognizes all my hard work 🙂

My interview is on September 12th with a "welcome zoom" on the 10th. If anyone else ends up in this group please let me know! It would be fun to get to know some of you beforehand, and then maybe end up in the same class 🙂

I submitted July 6th, verified about a week later.

I live in the South Lake Tahoe area just over on the California side. I have a history of living, working, and volunteering in Nevada with a desire to live there permanently once I am through with school.

Congrats! How exciting. Do you mind sharing your stats?

Sure.
My application took a sudden turn.
Sent June verified same week. I received an email from UNR, I needed a chem class.

I finished the class and my transcript posted Aug 9th. It has been sent to caspa, I’m waiting for it to arrive. (This waiting is awful)

So my next step is the transcript getting there in time. I’m not sure it will, and it’s awful.

Background,

Born and raised in Carson City. Graduated from UNR. Currently work in Carson, but live in south Reno. (Moved one month ago)  I also have two kiddos.

As I said, everything depends on this transcript. Please send luck. lol

Sure thing. I'm not sure if I'm interpreting the GPA's from CASPA correctly, but here we go.

Undergrad GPA 3.67

Edit* Degree is Environmental Conservation and Sustainability

Undergrad science 3.76

Post Bacc GPA 4.00

PCE about 7300 as an EMT, ER Tech, and Rehab Tech

Volunteer 960

Teaching 1400

Research 1050

Signed up to take Ochem and cell/molecular bio starting in a few weeks.

**I have tried so hard to stop comparing myself to others. Everyone's stats are a little (or a lot) different, and I used to feel so crummy looking at the experiences that others have. All we can do is keep doing our best!

Absolutely!

I also understand about comparing. I’m thankful for the opportunity to apply and be able to consider this. I’m very excited to see where this journey leads. I’m not sure how we could go about switching information but I’d be Interested.

Good luck!! Sounds like you'd be perfect for their program since it's your alma mater! I'm nervous because I'm not from Nevada, but still crossing my fingers.

Do you have to get invited to the subsequent interviews? Or you automatically go to all?

      Hi All,
I am currently a PA who is in a fellowship for epidemiology which is about to end and I am trying to move back closer to Nevada where my family lives (we have a baby boy, now, and really want him to have grandparents around). I was wondering if anyone who lives in Las Vegas/Reno or SLC can share their thoughts on the job market, practice environment, and salaries in NV vs. UT?
I have a strong background in public health and epidemiology/research, but I am thinking I might switch back to medicine for a while for the pay (my parents don't have enough money saved for retirement) and to keep my clinical skills fresh. I am interested in emergency medicine or any positions that might be well suited for someone with 2 years of Emed experience.  Thanks for your consideration!

I am a pre-pa student looking for any shadowing opportunities in Las Vegas! Any field/specialization is good, I have some experience shadowing medical students in a family clinic, but that's it as far as shadowing goes. My schedule is flexible and I'll do my best to accommodate to your time/availability.

Hi !! I am hoping to get into Touro's PA program in Henderson, Nevada - has anyone applied or gotten in? I would love any information on the interview process, stats and if you received an interview, were accepted or denied or anything at all you can offer!

Hi gang!  My wife and I are thinking of moving to NV next year and I can't seem to find any solid info on practice laws.  They seem to be favorable overall but it's important to me to maintain a decent scope of practice.  Background: I'm a supporter of OTP (actually, I was a supporter of FPAR), I currently work in CA (not the best state for PA practice, but not the worst), and have worked in NY and VT (which were both great with respect to practice laws.)
Can anyone provide insight, specifically around things like co-signature, "supervision" and general climate toward PAs?  In CA, we also have to list our collaborating physician's name on every chart we touch and every Rx we right.  Is this the same in NV?

      Thanks!

      Hello everyone,

I am currently in my 3rd year of undergrad at UNR. I recently contacted some PA programs and they highly recommended me to have shadowing hours for PAs. I volunteer and have a scribe job at a hospital, but they still want to see shadowing hours.
Is there anyone in or around Reno, NV that would allow me to shadow you? I would greatly appreciate the offer and experience, and I can guarantee you that I will be involved in learning as I shadow.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
