You should hear something soon! At least whether you passed the initial screening and in that case they’ll send you the secondary... beware the secondary responses are 250 characters max. The secondary questions are regarding an extension of the first essay question in the supplementals, struggles you foresee in PA school, and extra info about yourself that you didn’t have elsewhere on your app. Hope that helps. 🙂

I graduated from UNR too, when did you graduate?

I am waiting for the secondary questions from UNR; Does anyone remember what additional questions were asked; whether there was a character or word limit?

Does anyone here know anything about this program accepting those from out of state? I am from California and debating against applying here because of the question on CASPA : "Based on your interest and prior experiences, describe how you will contribute to the improvement of healthcare in Nevada."

I truthfully don't know if I plan on remaining to practice in Nevada after I graduate. I'm kind of open to considering anywhere I get in and then once living there seeing how I feel and if I love it enough to want to stay. I don't want to answer falsely but also don't want to pay to apply if my chance are close to none considering they might only be admitting those who are sure of a future as a PA in Nevada.

Any advice?

This program definitely favors NV residents, but they accept several out of state people every cycle. If I had to guess I would say those out of state people have strong ties to NV or provide good reasons for why they will remain in NV as a PA. I wouldn't recommend this program to someone who doesn't want to practice here, and if you do apply definitely don't say you will leave Reno as soon as you finish school!

      Hi All,
I am currently a PA who is in a fellowship for epidemiology which is about to end and I am trying to move back closer to Nevada where my family lives (we have a baby boy, now, and really want him to have grandparents around). I was wondering if anyone who lives in Las Vegas/Reno or SLC can share their thoughts on the job market, practice environment, and salaries in NV vs. UT?
I have a strong background in public health and epidemiology/research, but I am thinking I might switch back to medicine for a while for the pay (my parents don't have enough money saved for retirement) and to keep my clinical skills fresh. I am interested in emergency medicine or any positions that might be well suited for someone with 2 years of Emed experience.  Thanks for your consideration!

I am a pre-pa student looking for any shadowing opportunities in Las Vegas! Any field/specialization is good, I have some experience shadowing medical students in a family clinic, but that's it as far as shadowing goes. My schedule is flexible and I'll do my best to accommodate to your time/availability.

Hi !! I am hoping to get into Touro's PA program in Henderson, Nevada - has anyone applied or gotten in? I would love any information on the interview process, stats and if you received an interview, were accepted or denied or anything at all you can offer!

Hi gang!  My wife and I are thinking of moving to NV next year and I can't seem to find any solid info on practice laws.  They seem to be favorable overall but it's important to me to maintain a decent scope of practice.  Background: I'm a supporter of OTP (actually, I was a supporter of FPAR), I currently work in CA (not the best state for PA practice, but not the worst), and have worked in NY and VT (which were both great with respect to practice laws.)
Can anyone provide insight, specifically around things like co-signature, "supervision" and general climate toward PAs?  In CA, we also have to list our collaborating physician's name on every chart we touch and every Rx we right.  Is this the same in NV?

      Thanks!

      Hello everyone,

I am currently in my 3rd year of undergrad at UNR. I recently contacted some PA programs and they highly recommended me to have shadowing hours for PAs. I volunteer and have a scribe job at a hospital, but they still want to see shadowing hours.
Is there anyone in or around Reno, NV that would allow me to shadow you? I would greatly appreciate the offer and experience, and I can guarantee you that I will be involved in learning as I shadow.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
