Help! I need personal statement advice

Recommended Posts

When writing your PS try to have a clear path of what you want to say. A theme of some sort can be a good idea to tie the entire paper together. Make sure you answer the prompt. Looks through posts on this forum and you will see several styles. A good web search will also give you great tips for writing your PS.

You don’t want your PS to be a platform to restate your resume with a little more detail. Your CASPA application will have that information already in it. I’ve read some that are more like a research paper, trying to show the reader one knows what a PA is/does; the admissions committee will assume one already knows this, so no need to educate them.

A good PS will likely go through many revisions. Having several people give you feedback can be especially helpful to have a great finished product.
