Updating CASPA

Recommended Posts

I submitted my application to a few schools about one week ago, but I received a Medical Assistant job offer this week that would allow me to gain more PCE (40+ hours a week guaranteed for the next year which is more than what I was getting at my previous job). Someone reached out to me about the position after I submitted a few PA applications and I received an immediate interview/job offer. Should I hold off on applying to the rest of my schools until I start this job? I plan on updating my application since I have this new job and have been doing virtual shadowing weekly (I know some schools don't count it as shadowing but I think it holds some value). I know some schools won't look at the updates once an application has been submitted. By August, I should have 2000 hours of PCE.

I don't know what your previous job was, but taking a new job as an MA is probably not worth a "stop the presses" moment in your application process. After you've worked a couple of months, you could consider sending a note to each school you applied to with the update.
