Does anyone know if they accept scribing as PCE? I've tried emailing them and calling them to no avail.

I emailed them last year about that and they told me that as long as you can prove that it was direct patient contact, then they will accept it.

Hi everyone,

I was told that I do not need an academic reference as long as I state the reason why. Does anyone know where I would include that information in the CASPA application? I have emailed admissions but have not received a response.

Same here. Let me know if you get a response back!

Can anyone give me some feedback on how you answered the Caspa Q regarding your interpretation of integrative medicine?

I currently work in an integrative medicine office which is what drew me to SCU. I talked gave a basic definition of what I thought integrative medicine was and how we implemented integrative modalities in our practice i.e. supplements, nutritionist, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractics

Congrats to everyone who has already submitted! The application deadline isn't until January 1st- for those of you who've already submitted, what is your reasoning for submitting early?

Thanks a lot and good luck!!

Submitted early because based on last years thread, SCU started sending out interview invites in November prior to the January deadline. They even sent interview invites in December during 2018-2019 cycle.

They take an integrative approach by having PA students take courses with their other health programs like Chinese medicine, chiropractic, and acupuncture. They believe that by learning relevant information like anatomy together with other fields, you gain different perspectives and learn off each other. Its a great program and everyone is very nice!

According to their website, January 15, 2021 is the deadline.

Hi All. According to the 2019-2020 cycle, SCU is calling individuals for acceptance off the waitlist currently and the school year starts in September. With that said, I doubt we'll hear anything prior to that.

@Lee2018 I applied early because my CASPA was complete and I was applying to multiple schools. I fully intend on updating SCU about any changes to my application prior to the January 15th deadline. Wishing you all the best this cycle!

When they say "core science prerequisite GPA" are they referring to the cumulative science GPA in CASPA or the GPA calculated using the courses you assign to their prereqs?

They are referring to 8 credits of chemistry, 4 credits anatomy, 4 credits physiology, and 4 credits of microbiology.

Hi everyone I submitted about a week ago and received an email stating my application won't be reviewed until I have the required patient care hours. I am a clinical research assistant at a local VA, where in CASPA I logged my experiences in blocks. I would say in my average 40/hr work week I cover about 20/hr research experience, 10 hr patient care experience, 10 hr health care experience. I have been working there for 2 years - which means by January it will be about 1,120 hours of direct patient care with my calculations. Overall in my position it will be about 4,500 hours working in a hospital on this clinical trial focusing on human patients... not sure who I should speak to or if it's worth advocating for? Any advice greatly appreciated!
