daisyausoleil
What are the real world differences between earning these two degrees? From what I can find most DHSc programs require more credit hours (and thus take more time to complete) than the DMSc programs. In what situations is one viewed as better than the other? I am contemplating a DMSc with education concentration as I hope to stay more in academia but don’t want to limit options if I decide to be more clinical or administrative focused in the future. I love the idea of finishing a doctorate in only about a year but wonder if DHSc is viewed more highly than DMSc by many and would be worth the extra time and expense? I’m having trouble finding information that clearly delineates the two degrees.
Moderator EMEDPA Posted April 4, 2020 Moderator Share Posted April 4, 2020 In general terms, the DHSc is more research based(like a PhD) and the DMSc is more of a clinical doctorate(like a DNP). Either will get you a job at a PA program or doctoral pay if working for the government.
