lastone
I'm wondering how many people who have it kept their paramedic license active after becoming a PA. Mine is due to expire and I'm debating whether or not to renew it, mostly because I worked so hard to get it but I'm not sure what else I would use it for now. TIA! BirdDogPA
It may be helpful if you ever wanted to do pre-hospital medicine such as air medical transport.

GetMeOuttaThisMess
Take it from an old geezer. Don’t let a certification that you obtain expire. 1
JDayBFL
As long as you can keep up with the CME and paramedic skills. I work in a completely different field now than my pre-hospital/paramedic background and no longer wish to keep up paramedic skills and the related CME. I will probably retire that cert this year and let my certification go. If I still worked in EM/FM setting I would probably continue to keep it but really have no use for it in surgical setting. UGoLong
Keep it.Your PA program can write a letter outlining your training and satisfy the National Registry refresher and CE requirements.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
ohiovolffemtp
Can't speak for national registry, but Ohio lets me use my CME for PA to satisfy my CE requirements for my medic.

I've used PA CME for NREMT EMT since graduation without issue.

Let a few of my pure IT and IT security ones lapse, but not the ones I consider core. Interestingly enough, some of the ones I worked hardest for, like MCSE and CPP were simply too hard to keep. ohiovolffemtp
Before or around PA school I let my fire inspector and fire service instructor certifications lapse - just wasn't using them and was too hard to keep up with the CE. I have kept my EMS instructor, because I continue to do some EMS teaching.
