quest16
Thanks for all the helpful info and insight that’s been provided! I have one more question, if someone happens to know the answer.. what is difference between alternate selections made prior to September 1st and those made after October 1st? Since it sounds like people are hearing both dates. My initial thought was that post-October 1st selections are made in order to access funds for the next fiscal year (which starts October 1st). But on second thought, maybe October/November selections actually depend on whether initial alternate selections accept their awards? Still overthinking what my chances probably are and trying to plan accordingly.. Lol Edited July 15, 2020 by quest16

Sept 1st is the date I was given and I'm a PA applicant.

It seems like if you were selected as an alternate in May (and maybe early June) or before, then you were given the September 1 date and if you were selected as one of the newer alternates in June or July, then you were given the October 1 date. For reference, I applied in April, was selected as an alternate in May and I was given September 1st as the date. Again, I'm not certain of this, I'm just speculating. That's why I was a little confused by the differing dates, b/c the NP selection committee wasn't formed until just a month ago (so no applications reviewed until then), and all the NP applicants that I know of recently received a rejection or alternate status with mention that additional selections would be made after October 1st for awards starting in the Spring. So I wondered if maybe they were just delaying certain selections until the new fiscal year starts (on October 1st) when they know they will have funding. But I dunno, all speculation. Thanks for entertaining my overthinking tendency Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back! Edited July 15, 2020 by quest16
Bam9876
For anyone in the “alternate” status: I’m a first year PA student and 2019 recipient of the HPSP scholarship. I got two status notifications that I was an alternate, one early June and one in July. I found out the first week of August that I was awarded the scholarship. If you’re an alternate, don’t lose hope! 2

crose311
So I got the scholarship!!! I’m so torn though. Does anyone know how seriously they take your location preferences into consideration?

Everything I had read said you pick your top 3 locations and they choose from there, but that’s completely wrong! The 2 scholarship directors I spoke with explained they put you into the job search website, then you’re totally in charge of your search! You pick which jobs you want to apply for where there’s openings so you’re in charge of your location and specialty. They only find jobs for you if you’ve graduated and still haven’t found a placement. It was a huge relief to me! LaurenR19
I was just accepted to PA school on July 24th! Start date January 2020. I submitted my application yesterday (Aug 10th). How long does it take to hear back? I know I’m late in the “cycle,” but since you can’t apply until you’re unconditionally accepted, here I am! Appreciate any info you can provide! I've been waiting for any sort of PA update on this page but it seems like the last PA student accepted was somewhere in the beginning of May. All the ones accepted since then that post here are either Pharmacy students or Nursing. I wonder why they even extended the deadline to June at this point. Congrats on your acceptance! Thank you so much! my application was accepted and scored. So I guess it’s just now waiting to hear! The school I was accepted to doesn’t review apps until very end of cycle (March 2020) for the 2019-2020 cycle so that’s my acceptance was so late! I’ll update once I hear more! Quiqui
So, anyone on the alternate list hear back yet? I was initially told by September but given everything going on I’m sure it’s been pushed back?

The email I received stated additional selections from alternate list if made, would come after October 1st. That is the beginning of the fiscal year for the government so I assume it will depend on the funding. FYI I'm a PA applicant so it may be different for others. WBTKPK
Yeah it can’t be true that there’s no money because several people already got awarded scholarships for next year.

ifeeluncomfortable
I received an email from Scott Dixon today that I did not receive the scholarship. I thought I was rejected a long time ago when the scholarship was closed. Good luck to anyone still waiting.
