When do I have to fill out FAFSA for Jan 2020 start date? Do I have to wait to know for sure what school I am going to before I fill it out? MT2PA Posted October 30, 2019 Share Posted October 30, 2019 Now. Fill it out now. Or wait til your school tells you to. FAFSA works on the school calendar year (i.e fall 2019 - spring/summer 2020). Filling it out now shouldn't hurt you. I filled mine out in January and just listed all the programs I MIGHT be accepted to (i.e had pending interviews or had been waitlisted).
