VA Physician Assistant Job At Walk-in Clinic?

Recommended Posts

Hi, guys! I am a PA student who is going to graduate soon. I am interested in working for the VA after graduation. I was verbally offered a job to see walk in patients and cover for primary care physicians when they are off in a VA outpatient clinic. I was wondering if anyone has experience working at walk-in clinics at the VA. How is a typical day like? How many patients do you see per day? How is the payment for new graduate in the VA? I would greatly appreciate any insights! Thanks!

Good question, but the VA isn't part of the military so the posting is in the wrong area of PAF.

Having worked ACC at Dallas I would NOT recommend this setting for a new grad.  You have to know your stuff since all the other departments dump on you and anything/everything will be presented to you.

I second the motion that new grads are NOT prepared for the intensity and internal medicine scope in the VA. Not even the float position you describe. Sorry.
