slolar
We staff an express care in an ED. We have no switched to solo coverage with a mix of PA and MDs. We are facing a situation where MD is working AM shift and PA is working PM shift. Is it medico-legally acceptable for the MD to sign out patient to PA, pending X (ie xray, consult etc). We are stumped. Sara
charlottew
huh? why wouldn't it be legal? I work in the ICU, and we sign out to residents, and vice versa, all the time. Maybe you could explain better your concerns? Because I do not see a problem, here.
ohiovolffemtp
I do EM. At 20:00 I receive signout from the doc and at 08:00 sign out to the doc.
Moderator LT_Oneal_PAC Posted August 21, 2019 Moderator Share Posted August 21, 2019 I got sign out from and gave to physician residents all the time when I was a PA resident. Do the same now from locum docs at my solo facility. Not sure why your group would be having a dilemma?
Moderator EMEDPA Posted August 21, 2019 Moderator Share Posted August 21, 2019 do it all the time. we staff a doc or a PA interchangeably. I took a sign out on a trauma I ended up admitting just this morning from one of the docs in the group.
BirdDogPA
Do it all the time at my solo shop as well as the facility that has double/triple coverage.
