Supervising physician doesn't carry malpractice

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I need some input regarding a possible job opportunity. I am a PA in Florida who has worked in primary care for 2 years.  I recently interviewed for a position at another primary care clinic and the interview went really well. However, the supervising physician has chosen not to carry malpractice insurance. He is older, close to retiring, and has been practicing without malpractice insurance for 20+ years. He states he would pay for my malpractice insurance. . . however I am not sure of the job since he does not carry any. Has anyone else run into this situation? Or simply have any thoughts on this matter? Thank you so much!

You may not be able to get your own policy without evidence of coverage of your SP.  It's that way for me each year on my personal policy renewal.

That is good to know, I had no idea! Thank you!
