TWR
I just read this morning that the hospital is bankrupt and is closing in a couple of weeks. How is this effecting PA's that are enrolled in the PA program?
CAAdmission
Holy crap! That is bad on an epic level.
DiggySRNA
From my understanding, Hahnemann's PA program converted into Drexel's PA program years ago. So this doesn't affect them unless they were doing clinicals at Hahnemann. A lot of said students, workers, and affiliates are transferring to Einstein, Jefferson, Drexel, etc.
MT2PA
It may not affect them as far as being in a program (bc as above it is Drexel). However extrapolating from this article: https://www.phillyvoice.com/hahnemann-hospital-drexel-university-closure-clinical-staff-physicians-lose-jobs-tower-health/ I would imagine it may severely impact the availability of clinical rotations. And that is quite an impact. The residency programs are essentially closed at this point. https://news.aamc.org/medical-education/article/hahnemann-to-close-programs-release-residents/ Not good indeed. Kaepora
The School of Nursing and Health Professions (which includes the PA program) will be relatively unaffected. I went to Drexel and still receive email updates and have gotten multiple concerning this. Edited August 1, 2019 by Kaepora
