Updates after verification

Recommended Posts

All,

Just wanted to let you know from last years experience so you don't have the same issue.

Background:  Wanted to hit the Aug 1 deadlines, so submitted  and was verified prior to deadline.

Had transcripts and other items from summer that arrived at CASPA after application was verified.

Two Items to note:

1 - Any grades after verification will not be updated into the GPA calculation (I can understand that).

2 - CASPA will update the file, however if you submit another application, CAPSA sends the original file to the school - Not the updated one.

YOU will need to inform the school to go get the UPDATED file, otherwise they will still see your original file.

I did not know this and may have missed out on schools looking at what I thought was an updated file only to find out later, that they were not seeing the updated version.  If I would have known this, I may have either waited (missed the Aug deadline) or more than likely told the schools they had to go into the system to see the latest file (CASPA's advice).

I found this out too late for last years cycle....Posting this so others may avoid this.

Good Luck!

I've noticed others getting interviews before me and they applied days after me.  I will graduate in 2 weeks and my updated transcript will reach CASPA in about a week.  When I update my application to show my graduation and my last prerequisite being updated (will update both in about 2 weeks), do you think I'll still have a chance?  Is updating your application something they actually look at much?  Or am I out of the race already?

Sent the school an email stating that CASPA has been updated with the following.....and advise them to go into CASPA to retrieve the latest file.   That's all I can suggest.

Do we need to be re-verified once our first app has been verified? I just submitted my second app, however the status is "received". I'm nervous because my apps are due in less than 2 hours.

Correct. Each app you send in is verified on an individual basis. Although, your typically verified much faster for the apps you submit after your first one (since they've done the thorough verification already). Ex: I had submitted apps in May which took 2 days for verification. I submitted another app yesterday and it was received and verified on the same day. Make sense?

As RFO stated - you will have a verified application if it was already done once.

However - If this is the 2nd school in the same cycle - CASPA will not verify any updates.  They will Update the file,  Example -  when I added my degree after it application was verified and sent it to another school - CASPA sent a verified application to the school.  However - it was not the latest and when the school goes into the system for the pdates they will see the information, however the 'added' information will not be verified.

Just hope the schools will go the extra step to go back into CAPSA when they have 1200 other applications in front of them.

Finn.….Yes, that's what it means.  You will need to tell the schools the application has been updated.   If they desire, they can pull a copy.  However schools may not go the extra effort with so many applications.   All I can say is let the school know what you're doing.

I have been verified for all my programs since June and have been working full time gaining tons more PCE since applying, (I graduated undergrad in May). I have been on one interview so far and have two additional coming up in October. Should I update my CASPA or email my programs with my updated PCE total? Thanks!

My CASPA application was recently verified 2 weeks ago. However, I am still completing some applications on CASPA and I was wondering how to go about updating my current HCE experience? I have a full-time job, so I already accumulated about 80 hours since my application was verified. Do I need add new HCE experience (with the same description) that is already listed as "till date"? Also, how do you update current experience (if at all)? Do you write the start time from which you started the job or the start date from which you last updated that type of experience from when the application was verified?

      Hello Everyone,
I am finishing up my achievements section under CASPA and I have a lot of scholarships to include. I have more than 15 scholarships, some merit based and some need based. I don't know if I should include dollar amounts on the description. Some are as small $500 and some as high as $35K. I'm not sure the amounts are appropriate or relevant. I am honestly very proud of all of them because even a couple bucks helped me a great deal so I'm okay with listing. What is your take on this?

      Hello,
I'm having a little panic session right now. I submitted one application and realized I did not add the last name for a PA that I shadowed in my experience section. Is this gonna be a major issue for my application? I thought CASPA meant that I couldn't edit the submitted application but that I could still edit the ones I had not yet submitted and now I realize I can't. Are schools going to fault me for this?

      Hello all!
I’m relatively new to this site and it’s my first time posting. I recently submitted my applications and I received an email yesterday from a school about my grade in Orgo 1. I got a C- (ugh. I know) and they said that they couldn’t substitute Orgo 2 for that requirement. They asked if I would be interested in retaking the course which I am interested in doing if it’ll increase my chances of getting in.
My question is: how do I go about adding that to my application if I’m not taking the class until the fall? Should I call each program I applied to and tell them my intention of retaking it or should I just add it to my transcript on CASPA saying it’s in progress even though it won’t start until August?
      Thanks in advance!

Hi! Does anyone know of any programs that once required the GRE and are now no longer requiring it this year due to COVID? I wanted to apply to a few more schools but haven’t taken the GRE. Thanks!
