I'm a soon to be new grad and about to accept a position at a NHSC site. In the contract, it states that I would be covered under the Federal Claims Tort Act. There is no tail coverage provided by the health center. My understanding of the FCTA based on what I've read on the HRSA website is that employees of NHSC sites are insured by the federal government and cannot be sued individually. The website also says I would be protected for all covered activities resulting in allegations of medical malpractice that occured while working for the NHSC site. Does anyone have experience or understanding of malpractice for NHSC sites? Do I need to be concerned that there is no tail coverage or is this sufficient malpractice if I were to leave this job?
