What are my chances

Recommended Posts

21 year old male biology major at a large midwestern university.

cGPA- 3.9 sGPA- 3.8

GRE- 317 and a 4.0

PCE- 515 hours as an EMT basic and 50 hours as a phlebotomist at an internship(not sure if I should include this or not). I’m a certified EMT and phlebotomist.

Shadowing- shadowed a few PAs for about 40 hours

Volunteering- I’ve volunteered at a free healthcare clinic working in the lab, 40 hours. I’ve also volunteer at a food bank, 50 hours.

Letters of rec from my anatomy professor, a PA, and a fellow EMT.

I’m also the treasurer of my schools pre-PA club.

* Grades and GRE are fine.
* PCE is minimally adequate, but the more the better.
* Shadowing is likely fine.
* Volunteering is likely fine
* WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WANT  A FELLOW EMT WRITING AN LOR FOR YOU? LORs are ideally from people who can attest to how well you will do in PA school or as a PA.

Your high GPA will benefit you, but I will say that your PCE hours are low. Most of the people I met at my interviews had about 2 years of experience (and some with much more). I would recommend including anything you can in those hours (phlebotomy). In addition, I would also get a stronger LOR than from a fellow EMT.
