2019-2020 Application Cycle

Recommended Posts

Hello! For those of you interviewing this upcoming November 5th, we will be holding an informal Meet and Greet on Monday, November 4th, at 4:30PM at the Mare Island Brewery Company (located at 289 Mare Island Way, Vallejo, CA).  This is completely optional and will give you a chance to meet current students in the program as well as other interviewees.  Hopefully it will help get rid of some nerves before your interview.  If you're interested please take this quick survey:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZZ3VQCD. We look forward to seeing you there! 👍

I submitted mid July and just got a confirmation that they received my CASPA application today. I submitted a secondary for Touro NV in Aug, but I'm not sure if they use the same secondary.

For those of you who are looking for lodging and transportation information check here for recommendationsfrom the school:

http://facilities.tu.edu/campusmap/

I stayed at the DoubleTree in American Canyon for my interview. It was nice and they had a nice little restaurant where I grabbed a quick bite before leaving for my interview in the morning.  The school also offers a light breakfast before the interview which I definitely recommend taking advantage of. There are some restaurants around the American Canyon area where I got dinner at as well. There are also some hotels slightly closer to Touro that a number of my classmates stayed in. I live in the area so I drove up closer to the area the night before, but a few of my classmates flew into San Francisco Airport or Oakland Airport and they rented a car since they were from out of state.

A few things to know: The school is on Mare Island so the only way to access the campus is on a bridge. There are two bridges that access the island, however, the larger of the two bridges (the CA-37 bridge) is normally rather backed up with morning traffic, and the smaller of the two bridges goes up periodically to allow for ships to pass. Although this doesn’t happen often, it can take about 10 minutes. I recommend planning accordingly for your commute to your interview by leaving extra time for traffic due to these bridges. If you are traveling from OAK or SFO airport or nearby cities that require you to take the 1-80E or 101 N, you will have to pay a toll. The tolls only accept cash, so make sure you have cash otherwise you will receive a ticket! The tolls are anywhere from $6-$8. Also, the tolls can cause a lot of traffic.

I submitted my application a while but never received a confirmation email... I tried to call them several times but I could not get through... Has this happened to anyone else? Also, were any of you able to get in touch with the admissions office??

Same here....

I emailed Natasha a few times and she just told me my application has been received and not to contact their department for updates.

Hi, there!

For those who have interviewed or are current students, I am torn between renting a car or just using Uber/Lyft. Personally, I think renting a car would be easier so I can just come and go where I want on my own time. But I'm also a little nervous driving in the Bay Area (I'm from Texas). Some people have suggested to me to just use the apps but I feel like that sounds kind of inconvenient to rely on that for 3 days. What do you think?

For me a car let me do things on my own time, allowed for adventures, was cheaper, and let me store things during the interview. I rented a car from Sacramento Airport and was pretty easy since its all small highway. Oakland airport isn't too bad of a drive either honestly. If you're coming from SFO you'll probably have to drive through the middle of San Fransisco which is a bit more difficult but honestly its not too bad with GPS and you can even stop by a few places for fun adventures. Driving in Vallejo itself is super easy as its not densely populated.
