ResusMachine
Hi there I just took the course this summer. It was fantastic. The course is split into 2 different parts- didactic and simulation where you have the opportunity to dial in different vent settings in different clinical scenarios and get feedback from the instructors. The course did an awesome job teaching interpretation of ventilator waveforms. Unless you have completed a pulmonary residency, you were likely cheated when you were taught about mechanical ventilation. Waveforms/loops can tell you so much about a patient's disease process as well as how to fine tune your ventilator settings and there was a significant emphasis on this. There's a lot of good discussion from different physicians and RTs at different centers about how they approach different problems that cause us all quite a bit of headache ie: determining optimal PEEP. When you do signup for the course, take the time to get through as much of the pre-course material as you can. It lays a good foundation for the main points they hit on, and you'll get a lot more out of the sessions if you do.
