Hey Guys,

I am just now finishing my first semester at South. It is a great program. Let me know if you have any questions about the program.

I received my interview invite around late October and it was for the first Friday in December if that helps any.

I received my interview invite at the beginning of October for the November 2nd interview. I got my acceptance call a few days before Thanksgiving.  It is a fantastic program though.  They do really care about you as a person and as a student and want to see you succeed.

I ended up attending a different PA program, but I did interview and get accepted to this program. I submitted my application earl June.I was notified about an interview in November. The interview took place in December. I was notified of status a week after my interview. I was wait listed and later accepted in March.

Does anyone know what is the percentage of out of state students that they take of the 40 participants?

I’m sorry, I’m not sure on that. I can tell you that when I interviewed there previously applicants I spoke to were from several states. I recall California, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee. I do know they reserve 10 of the 40 seats for veterans.

How do you know about the 10 seats for veterans? Is that posted some where?

It’s on their website. Or at least it was in 2016-2017. I interviewed then and 10 seats were reserved for veterans. Was told if all 10 weren’t filled after interviews they would open them up to the non-veteran interviewees.

I’m a current first year PA student at USA, as well. We only have 1 veteran and 1 other active/reserves student...so I don’t know that they are “reserved” necessarily...not sure. But they’re moving up to 60 students this year, so there will be like 6 interview dates and about 180 students interviewed. The first interview date is a few weeks away, I’m not sure if they’ve sent any invites yet. I got my invite in late October for November 9. Good luck to all of you, we look forward to meeting you!

Also, we have probably 10 or so from service areas (MS, FL) and maybe 5-8 that are paying out of state, I think. Also there’s a lot of movement that happens, so if you get waitlisted, don’t worry! I was waitlisted until March and got in. I think close to half of our class was waitlisted 😅

Thanks so much for the info! Did they make an official announcement on increasing the class size? Just curious if it’s something newly decided since it hasn’t been reflected on the website yet. Excited they are accepting more!

Yeah its looking pretty official that the next class is gonna have 60 students. I would be willing to bet if you get an interview that's when you'll learn more about it that way you hear it from the actual faculty instead of reading about it on website. Best of luck.

Has anyone else receive an interview? I submitted my application in Sept.

Nope. They are interviewing into January this year so still quite a bit of time left. I’ve interviewed here before so hoping I can get another chance to earn a seat. It’s a great program!

I found some old post about this topic but only a few people were involved and it was from quite a few years back. I thought I'd bring it up again for more clarification for all.
Looking for suggestions on how to/ how you enter military experience into CASPA.  What are your thoughts on dividing all of that up between medical and non-medical experience, training and schools, deployment vs. garrison, leadership roles, and awards? Did you add past certs that have since lapsed? Should it be broken down by each duty station or each title? Also, how did you quantify the number of hours and should it be one lump sum or divided up? Any thoughts would helpful.

      Hey guys!
My husband is in the Navy and he JUST got orders to Mississippi for March 2020. I also JUST got a new job where we are located at right now. I’m also a new grad PA, so I plan on doing the long distance thing for several months (ugh) so that I can say that I’ve got a year of experience on my resume.
Can anyone tell me what the job market is like in Mississippi (specifically Gulfport/Biloxi)?
Is the job market better in Alabama? Should I focus on getting my license there instead, or Mississippi? It’s an hour drive to Mobile.
What’s the licensing process like for Mississippi? I heard the medical board has to interview you. What is that like?

      thank you!

      Hello fellow aspiring PA students,
I was a 2018-2019 Samford PA applicant, and I found that a forum like this was very helpful last year. I thought I would go ahead and get a forum started for this application cycle. This is for anyone wanting to talk/ask questions about Samford's PA program for the 2019-2020 application cycle. I was waitlisted, and haven't heard anything back from them, but I would assume they already have solidified the seats for their very first cohort. Samford is a beautiful campus, and the faculty were a pleasure to be around during my interview, and as far as I am concerned they are my program of choice this application cycle. The application process can be cumbersome, so feel free to discuss and ask questions or give updates.
      Godspeed!

      Hi all :)
I'm currently about to attend PA School and the excitement I have is beyond words. However I have a bit of a problem I was hoping someone could help me with as it seems I can't find a concrete answer anywhere online.
I live in the US and am a US citizen  (have been all my life) however once I finish PA School, I will be moving to Dubai because that is where my Fiancé lives and works. It would be extremely difficult for him to come here and find a job, but over there he is doing very well.
I was just wondering if anyone knew about the certified physician assistant job market in Dubai. Will I be able to find a job? Will I be getting a decent salary? (I'm aware it won't be as much as if I had experience.)
Any information that anyone might have that relates to this would be DEEPLY appreciated

Thank you so much in advance,
      Best,
      Mariam
