Bsn?

Recommended Posts

I have my BA already and my GPA is lower than acceptable. I have a few different options before and I was wondering what you all thought might be best . I can try to pull my GPA up taking various science based

courses then apply, I can apply to get my Masters in Biomedical Sciences, then apply or I can get my BSN

with a great GPA, work as an RN for a while then apply. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Exactly what I was thinking. I was worried I may be missing something. I have already been told I am good to go with the nursing program / BSN so I think that is the route I will take. It will give me the increase in GPA and it will give me the needed HCE as well. I wasn't sure about the masters program to begin with, the cost and if it would actually help me. I am

pretty selective about where I want to be ( have a family and want to stay close to home). Glad to hear that you are

enjoying the nursing program, I am excited to start that as well ( just wasn't sure if I was going to do the BSN concurrently. Thanks for your input!

Sorry, I meant a BSN concurrent with an ASN. I think both would be way to much. And my thought was that the BSN

showed much more determination to work in the field. Working with patients is my background and I don't really want to give that up. Thanks again I so appreciate your feedback. Where are you in nursing school at?

Happened to stumble across your post and thought I would bite :)..... coming from a current BSN holder and soon to be PA student I have my story. I was a CNA for nearly 5 years, have been an RN for 2 and start PA school in approx one month. I did have a good GPA, many HCE hours...so I am not sure why they choose me (I wonder that often lol). Perhaps being an RN helped, perhaps HCE hours, perhaps not blowing the interview...I will never know. Try looking for some guidance from Andy Roddick (I believe that is the name/spelling) How To Get Into PA school, found it personally helpful for the entire process. On interview days there were people with biomed backgrounds, RD, EMT, biology...little bit of everything. Now I don't know from my groups who were accepted, but they did have an interview, which is half the battle! Hope this helps :)

PS: Have loved nursing and never plan to let my license expire :)
