chunhi123
Hi everyone, This year will be my second year applying to PA program. I didn’t have quite an easy experience finding PA to shadow. I really want to get some shadowing hours this year to make my application better. Any idea how can I get some shadowing experience? And how many hours should I get? (I have a full time day shift job) Thank you
miche12x
Hello! I was in the same situation earlier this year. I decided to go do some research online to see where I would find PAs and tracked them down (I mostly picked PA's that worked in clinics). I went to a couple of clinics (where the PAs worked) , and told the receptionists that I was interested in shadowing PA's. They gave me a number to contact the person that was in charge with shadowing opportunities. Eventually, I got a response and got set up with a few PAs to shadow. I would recommend having your resume ready and a copy of all of your vaccinations-flu shots, in case they ask for it. Having these documents will save a lot of time. Let me know if you have any questions ~Michelle
elainabee
Check with the volunteer services departments at local hospitals/clinics. This is how I got the bulk of my shadowing hours! Many larger hospitals actually have programs designed for pre-PA students that help you get the required # of hours for your application. Good luck
